As you probably know, the best time to take pictures is early morning or late afternoon. During the “golden hour”, the light is so much warmer and softer, but if you want to take advantage of it, you have to wake up early. I have to admit, I am not a morning person. I hate mornings. The only thing more annoying than the beep of the alarm clock is waking up to darkness. I have tried many alarm sounds, vibrating alarms and many other tricks and they all had something in common. They managed to put me in a bad mood each morning. Not a good way to start the day.
This changed considerably when I discovered the Philips Wake-Up Light. What a huge relief! I would not say that I’ve become a morning person, but I now wake up early and enjoy mornings much more. Not only it’s so much easier for me to wake up, but I am also refreshed and energized. Even when I don’t get the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep (which is pretty often), I still do not feel tired at all during the day. I can’t believe how the way you wake up in the morning can affect your entire day.
Waking up to light is a totally different experience. Since the light increases gradually, this is a natural way to wake up, definitely a lot more pleasant than an annoying alarm sound. It simulates the sunrise. I keep mine at the brightest settings. I have the alarm set up for 6:45 AM and the light starts coming on half an hour earlier. I usually wake up halfway through, a different time every morning, probably because I wake up whenever my body is ready. And no alarm? Yes, there is an alarm which starts at the set time, but the difference is that you can choose between different sounds or FM radio. I chose the bird chirping sound because it’s very pleasant. The sound starts out quietly and it reaches your selected volume level in about 1-2 minutes. Most of the time I wake up before the alarm because the light alone is enough for me.
Philips realized that people’s sensitivity to light is different. You are able to adjust the light intensity. You don’t have to use the brightest setting like I do. Like to read before bed? Since it has 20 brightness settings, this light can be used as a reading lamp as well.
I am really excited to have discovered the Philips Wake-Up Light. I do like and trust Philips as a brand but I didn’t know that they have over 100 years of expertise in light therapy technology. The product is also recommended by the National Sleep Foundation. In fact they chose to make the Philips Wake-up Light their Official Light Therapy Product, according to the manufacturer’s website.
I’ve said enough. If you hate mornings and have a hard time getting out of bed, this lamp is your savior. You will feel more refreshed and energized than ever, even if you have to wake up early. Try it for yourself so you can wake up early and take some great photos.
