New York City is such a beautiful place to visit during the holiday season; decorated with many lights and Christmas trees around every corner. Even if you don’t like crowds, it’s worth enduring them to enjoy the sparkly holiday windows of department stores like Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, and Barneys. This tradition dates back the 1870s, according to Macy’s, which started this trend. This year, my favorites were Saks and Macy’s, but I truly enjoyed others as well, even smaller stores. Merchandisers seem to become more and more creative every year.
Here is a selection of the pictures I took this year with my Canon 5D Mark IV to capture the holiday spirit in New York. I used my Canon 17-40mm f/4L since I needed an ultra wide angle lens to include as much as possible in the frame.
I hope you enjoy them.
If you are heading to New York City this December, make sure to bring your camera with you and capture some festive shots. Don’t forget your gloves. It can be really cold and windy.
Happy Christmas windows shooting!
